
Dodgeball TournamentJuly 18 The fourth annual North Dakota State Fair Dodgeball Tournament is back by popular demand. The tournament is open to ages 16 & up and is divided into two divisions, an Open Division and a Business/Service Organization Division. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in the Open Division and the teams with the best uniforms in both divisions. Entry Fee is $60 per team. Miss Rodeo NDSFJuly 18 Take part in the North Dakota State Fair eighth annual rodeo queen pageant as a spectator or participant. Ladies between the ages of 18 and 23 will compete for the title of Miss Rodeo North Dakota State Fair 2009. Pageant contestants will be judged in horsemanship, modeling, speech and a personal interview. Amateur Talent ContestJuly 23 Let your voice be heard at the 2008 North Dakota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest. Amateurs in both the Junior (15 and under) and the Senior (16 and up) divisions from around the state will compete for cash prizes. Only the first 15 applications in each division will be accepted. Dakota Stock Dog ChallengeJuly 21 A must-see for all dog lovers! The Dakota Stock Dog Challenge will feature dog breeders from South Dakota and North Dakota demonstrating how they work their dogs around livestock, and sharing some tips about training your own dog. After the demo, the dogs will compete against each other in a series of trials. The show starts at 7:00 pm in the All Seasons Arena. |
Greased Pig ContestJuly 26 Grab a friend and get down to the North Dakota State Fair Greased Pig Contest! It’s simple, all you have to do is catch a slippery, squirmy, greased pig and place it into a barrel in the center of the ring. The team of two that does it the fastest wins. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. The event will be Saturday, July 26th at 4pm in the SRT State Fair Park. Registration is accepted in advance. Contest is limited to first 20 teams. 3 on 3 Basketball TournamentJuly 25-26 For athletes looking for some summer fun, the North Dakota State Fair will once again host its annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament! Ball players from across the state will battle it out in this two-day competition packed with excitement to the last shot. The tournament includes boy’s and girl’s divisions grades 5-12, as well as adult men’s and women’s categories. The 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament is sponsored by MSU Beaver Boosters and KMOT-TV. |
Arm Wrestling CompetitionJuly 26 The United States Wristwrestling & Armwrestling Association presents the 2008 North Dakota State Armwrestling Championships on Saturday, July 26 at 3 p.m. on the Dakota Talent Stage. Weigh-ins are from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Both men's and women's categories are available. Awards will be presented in all classes. |
Collectibles ShowJuly 18-26 If you have a special collection, don’t keep it hidden! Take part in the 2008 North Dakota State Fair Collectibles Show. Anything, from quilts to antique toys, can be displayed and judged. The Collectible displays must be set up by 5:00 p.m. on July 17, for judging to begin at 6:30 p.m. Displays will be open from 10a.m.-10p.m. all nine days of the Fair. Color The FairJuly 18-26 Fill the walls of the State Fair with color! All kindergarten, first, second, and grade students are invited to color a page to be posted during the North Dakota State Fair. All entrants who attend the fair will receive a participation ribbon, which can be picked up in the Kids Clubhouse, during the State Fair. Crowd Pleasers Karaoke ContestJuly 18-26 Sing your heart out at the 4th Annual Crowd Pleasers Karaoke Contest, sponsored by Taco Johns. This contest takes place daily at 7pm and 10:45pm on the Dakota Talent Stage, with championship sing-offs being held on Tuesday, July 22 and Saturday, July 26. Registration takes place just minutes before the start of the competition. Prizes are awarded daily in both the adult and junior (16 and under) divisions. |
Texas Hold'emJuly 19-26 The North Dakota State Fair will host its second annual Texas Hold'em tournament. There is no buy in and up to 100 people play daily to get to the final tournament on Saturday the 26th. Daily cash prizes and other prizes are awarded! Players must register by 12:45pm daily. Horse PullJuly 20 The Horse Pull is a traditional fair favorite! Large draft horse teams, bred for their strength and agility, compete to see who can pull the heaviest load. The best horses in competition are worked every day to keep their muscles and tendons in top shape for pulling.
