First Lady's Pie ContestJuly 25 First Lady of North Dakota, Mikey Hoeven, will judge this first-ever State Fair competition. No need to preregister, just bring your best dessert pie to the State Fair Center lobby at Noon on Saturday, July 25. The pie judging will begin at 2pm. Miss Rodeo NDSFJuly 24 Take part in the North Dakota State Fair ninth annual rodeo queen pageant as a spectator or participant. Ladies between the ages of 18 and 23 will compete for the title of Miss Rodeo North Dakota State Fair 2010. Pageant contestants will be judged in horsemanship, modeling, speech and a personal interview. Odor Eaters Rotten Sneaker ContestAugust 1 It's getting smelly this year at the Fair! On Saturday August 1 at 4pm kids between the ages of 5 - 15 will compete for a basket of Odor-Eaters® products, $200, and an all expense paid trip for child (and one parent/guardian) to Montpelier, VT to compete in the national finals in March 2010!! Pony PullJuly 25 Watch these small pony powerhouses work! Teams of ponies battle against each other for title of the strongest. Two ponies make up each team and their combined weight determines if they will compete in the light weight or heavy weight class. Colgate Country ShowdownJuly 26 Watch some of the best local country musicians compete in a talent challenge you won't want to miss. The Colgate Country Showdown, sponsored by Sunny 101.9 Radio, will take place inside the Flickertail Gardens on Sunday, July 26th at 1:00 p.m. Along with receiving a cash prize, the showdown winner will advance to the state competition to compete for the opportunity to qualify for the regional level. Draft Horse Events ShowJuly 25 Arena 2 will be home to the first ever Draft Horse Events Show. Draft horses from across the state will compete in events such as Log Skidding, Cloverleaf and an Obstacle Course. Horse PullJuly 26 The Horse Pull is a traditional Fair favorite! Large draft horse teams, bred for their strength and agility, compete to see who can pull the heaviest load. The best horses in competition are worked every day to keep their muscles and tendons in top shape for pulling. Military Appreciation Day & Beef PicnicJuly 28 Military Appreciation Day is moving to Tuesday this year. Military members can take advantage of discounted gate admission, rodeo tickets, and carnival ride wristbands with Military ID. Free carnival rides will be provided from 1:00pm to 3:00pm for Military personal and dependents. The ND Beef Commission, ND Stockmen's Association, and ND Cattlewomen will sponsor a free beef picnic for Active Military, Reserve, and National Guard Members from 11:00am-1:00pm. Amateur Talent ContestJuly 29 Let your voice be heard at the 2009 North Dakota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest. Collectibles ShowJuly 24 - August 1 If you have a special collection, don’t keep it hidden! Take part in the 2009 North Dakota State Fair Collectibles Show. Anything, from quilts to antique toys, can be displayed and judged. The Collectible displays must be set up by 5:00pm on July 22. Displays will be open from 10am - 10pm all nine days of the Fair. North Country Mercantile Barnyard OlympicsAugust 1 Prove that you are the best farmhand out there by competing in the first annual North Country Mercantile Barnyard Olympics. Events will range from hay bale throwing to animal calling to wheelbarrow racing. Points are awarded based on placing and the one with the most points will be the champion. Come dressed in you best farmer joe outfit for bonus points. The fun will begin at 1 pm. on August 1. 3 on 3 Basketball TournamentJuly 31-August 1 For athletes looking for some summer fun, the North Dakota State Fair will once again host its annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament! Heartland Poker TourJuly 25 - August 1 Getting in on the free Texas Hold’em tournaments held daily at the Fair just might land you a trip to Las Vegas! The annual Hold'em Tournament will serve as a stop on the Heartland Poker Tour. There is no buy in and up to 100 people play daily to get to one of two finals, July 28 or August 1. This tournament is a qualifier for state and regional Heartland Poker Tour tournaments. Daily prizes and concert tickets will be awarded. The grand prize of this year’s tournament is a 3 day two night trip to Vegas. Players must register by 12:45pm daily in the Flickertail Gardens. Crowd Pleasers Karaoke ContestJuly 24 - August 1 Sing your heart out at the 4th Annual Crowd Pleasers Karaoke Contest. This contest takes place daily at 7pm and 10:45pm on the Dakota Talent Stage, with championship sing-offs being held on Tuesday, July 28 and Saturday, August 1. Registration takes place just minutes before the start of the competition. Prizes are awarded daily in both the adult and junior (16 and under) divisions. |
Dodgeball TournamentJuly 24 The fifth annual North Dakota State Fair Dodgeball Tournament is back by popular demand. The tournament is open to ages 16 & up. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in the Open Division and the teams with the best uniforms in both divisions. Entry Fee is $60 per team.
